With a selective company approach I.K Gujral Punjab Technical University got appreciation words from Punjab Technical Education & Industrial Training Minister Sr. Charanjit Singh Channi. "To perform well and to create difference, it is important to take selective initiatives. This is appreciable." These progressive and inspirational words were said by Sh. Charanjeet Singh Channi, Minister Technical Education & Industrial Training Govt. of Punjab, during the inauguration of 2nd State Level Mega Job Fair at IK Gujral Punjab Technical University Main Campus, Kapurthala. Channi was the chief guest of the occasion. This fair was organized by University as a part of State Government Plan “State Level Mega Job Fair”.
Sharing his views on the occasion, Minister Channi said that Punjab Government is dedicated to provide employment to the educated youth of Punjab and is taking many initiatives to achieve this. The planning and conduct of such job fairs is a laudable effort in this direction. He further added that in the first phase of this Mega Job Fair, 27,500 young people have got jobs and target in second phase is to provide employment to 50000 aspirants. For this, job fests are being organized at 50 locations till March 8, 2018 where more than 4,00,000 qualified candidates have registered for various jobs on Govt. Portal.
Minister Channi shared that a number of major reforms including industry oriented syllabi, recruitment of qualified faculty and best infrastructure etc. are being made in the domain of Technical Education. Government is going to establish a Skill Development University in collaboration with IK Gujral Punjab Technical University where skill development and entrepreneurship shall be encouraged through faculty and student exchange programs. The Minister also congratulated IK Gujral Punjab Technical University for developing such a wonderful infrastructure which facilitates the successful organization of such job fairs.
Presenting his welcome address, University's Dean RIC Dr Anirudh Pratap Singh appreciated the visionary mind and dynamic attitude of Minister Charanjit Channi. Singh shared that it is our worthy Minister who conceived this thought of State Level Mega Job Fair.
Delivering his vote of thanks, the registrar IKGPTU, Dr. Amanpreet Singh said that our university is committed towards government in all its initiatives taken towards the growth and development of technical education, creation of employment and development of skill & entrepreneurship. He further shared that in this 2 Days job fair, more than 50 companies shall participate and their target is to provide employment to more than 1500 qualified people. The Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala IAS Mohammad Taiyeb was also present on the occasion.
